You beat me to the draw with this post for the 5.01 :-) Haha that's because I check TPFC regularly!
Re: colours. Are you aware that the red is no longer shown? That it worked previous to this update? That both Updates and New are shown in blue? It did work but now doesn't. Perhaps it's some kind of limitation?
Re: filters. Oh I thought the filter for Update would show all apps that were previously in red! Misunderstood how that one works. |

It seems to be a bug. Now both updates and new apps are blue.
I understand the issue you have with colours. Maybe just have the blue (or preferably red) for new apps only and leave the colour OFF of updates as that isn't really needed I suppose. Whereas new apps should be easily identifiable.
Colour is fine so long as it's subtle and not 'in your face'. The world would be a boring place is everything was black, white and grey! ;-) |

Yes, it has been removed from new installs. But you need to remove the plugin manually from a previous installation. |

Thanks Gian, I'm in no rush for that option myself, but I will most certainly find it useful |

SyMenu Update v5.02.5953

As always, thank you so much for your hard work Gian. Couple things though... 1. Folders (Containers) can't be saved as Bold, even though they can be Emphasised in the Configuration form. Is this a bug or currently not possible? 2. Maybe a little reorganisation of this context menu. While emphasising the folders I accidentally clicked the Remove Item option, an inadvertant click on Yes instead of No and I would've lost around twenty entries! I suggest move Batch Import directly below Get New Apps, as these are for adding apps. Then move Remove Item to bottom of context menu.
Thanks

It's a shame all these apps don't work on Linux, I'd switch in a heartbeat if they did! Windoze is so full of useless junk, to me it's nothing more than a platform to run my own apps, I have never used Microsoft apps for anything and never will. |

Adding PortableApps.com Menu to SyMenu

Not all PA.com apps can be added. Due to the suffix added to the symenu install folders, _sps, which screws up the directory structure for PA.com Apps. Two examples are the second profiles for Firefox and Thunderbird. |

Could you please add a checkbox in the Configuration form to allow an app to be permanently marked to run as admin each time it's run. Thanks |

Defunct menu item indicator

I was wondering, are menu items monitored at any time, ie, at startup? It would be helpful if any apps that were deleted, yet still remain in the symenu list, could have some kind of indicator to show the app no longer exists.
This is one feature I liked about ASuite. It shows a red circle with a white exclamation mark for its icon when the app has been removed physically or it's name/path changed, but the menu item remains.
Another way to indicate this could be to change text colour for that item.
This function is useful in at least two ways - 1. Helps keep unofficial apps and their respective items in check, keeping the menu clear of junk and the user can then be sure if apps are missing or not.
2. This is my reason for requesting this feature. I have around 300 apps in symenu, the majority are rarely used, some never and are just backups in case something else fails, such as a bad release of an emulator or something. So I'd like to have two menus, one as a backup and one main menu with main apps. But instead of just having apps I use, I'd have the full list. But here's where the indicator would be useful to me... The apps missing would be highlighted by text colour or icon. Should updates to this be required, I can simply copy the full menu settings to the basic menu folder.
There may be other ways this could be useful too? edited by sl23 on 06/01/2017 |

SyMenu Published App Track

I am having problems using the plugin version. Whenever I try sorting the list by any specific user I get at error saying the plugin needs to be installed into the default path. Ie into symenu/plugins/ but that is where the plugin is installed.
I would like to suggest some improvements if I may, at the moment I'm away from PC so can't give any detailed requests yet.
A basic request would be to allow selection of columns to show/hide. |

Tis a little irritating, mainly cos I have to click to close it.
Just wondering, do you plan on using the PAT plugin to check for updates then alert user there are some available, or will it optionally be fully automated? Personally I'd prefer silent updates as the PA.com menu does. It opens a window to alert you then just click OK, or you can uncheck any you don't want to update. |

One request I would like to see added to PAT is the ability to double click on an apps name in the list to open that sps in the SPS Builder app. This would make the whole process much more integrated and easier to open, edit and update the relevant sps files.
Would this be possible?
I direct this question to both Cesar and Gian, as it may involve both of you, or one may know of limitations unknown to the other.
Thanks
Edit ~ Another request of value would be to allow the default track file to be changed to a user specified one. Or open last used file.
On another note, it may well be far superior way of working to allow sps to be fully edited via this plugin/app. If the above request is possible, double click a name to open in sps builder, perhaps the way forward would be to integrate the two apps more thoroughly. I realise this is probably a major task, but would ultimately make the whole sps process easier to create, manage and update. Be interested to hear your thoughts on this. edited by sl23 on 27/01/2017 |
