I may feel stupid, but I wonder how to have both versions (without re installing everything obviously, or wrecking the existing) Just Copy in a new folder then "import existing apps??... or anything smarter??

Download the beta, unpack it, copy the main executable in your SyMenu folder changing its name from SyMenu.exe to SyMenu.beta.exe or something similar. The two versions will works without any problem side by side. The only thing to follow is to not execute them at the same time.
And ..... it works!! thkx!! (so I suppose it's because only main prog updated!) |

I really love (1) the work you've done on that program!! And I do promote Symenu here (I mean in France)
I always have questions about "Une aide en français!!" (Help in french) I just made a test using "a famous translation tool" the result of which is not perfect but really acceptable
It still need some work (such as some rewording or screen exemples in French) but it could be a good starting point I also have no ideas about legal contrainst for exemple ..using this translation tool ......
May be other "french users could be interested and contributing) Can I send you my first result in PM for exemple

I like most of what you suggested, here are some comments (including comments on SL23 ones) 1- I don't bother about exit button or not and took YOUR point despite sl23 suggestion 2- I'd prefer sorting as sl23 does but ok searching is an acceptable workaround 3- keeping resize the window function is perfect 4- ok for "empty trash ...." buttons instead of links - sometimes SL23 may be right other sl3 points no definite opinion about them just general thoughts such as "keep the window simple", "right click context menu" isn't used enough IMHO
BUT what bothers me a lot is that I'm tired of been suggested some apps I definetly don't want to install/and/or update i'd like something to "say that to SPS manager" (such as "do not check for updates/install)" (defaulted to "check" obviously) But I suspect I could make a best use of the "status options" may be i missed something .......???
Thanks again for your commitment Symenu definetly deserve a largest "audience" and we're please to help to spread it over the (*) world (*) I mean the ENTIRE world |

Yes you probably did. You can force the system to ignore the check on some suites. https://www.ugmfree.it/SyMenuManual.aspx#SPSMonitoring
Yes I understood that, but this is not my point: I Don't want to ignore check for the all suite, just for some apps Example is where I'm proposed systematicaly the x86 version (though I already have x64 one!) Last example: UnrealCommanderx86 that I just deleted! edited by lupusbalo on 31/03/2017
Oh OH!!! a miracle occured!! just right now! Trying to reproduce more clearly my point and give you some screenshots ..... I deleted ..AGAIN UnrealCommanderx86 Then started sps manager (get new apps) and ....... For the 1rst time since ....... many weeks I was not proposed the x86 version any more!!! (Symenu V5.10.5288) for your info, Unrealcommacer was just an example I dont use it (but have it for some "other explorers" demos in my workshops)
so let's time past to see what happen next I think there had been a similar post of someone here

Ah Ah YEEEEESSSSSS!!
Congratulation GianLuca May be everybody didn't see that we can find some translations of the help file here (choose at top right of the page) ----EditStart OOPS link doesn't work you should go to "manual page" then ..... ----EditEnd probably not perfect but understadable and usable (1) (and rather helpful - which could be thought as necessary for a help file ) This could be the "missing link" to conquer the world

symenu autostart: very minor but irritating issue
lupusbalo
|
I'm using symenu extensively on several computers (cloning it on USB from my main PC)
So on this PC I want it to start with Windows, I also made several other symenu suite programs autostart with W10 (1) Everything works fine for any other program EXCEPT FOR SYMENU!! - I tried "autostart option" - so added a shortcut to windows "start" folder - so added a task in the scheduler NONE of the above works!!! (below is an autorun screen copy)
This issue lasts for months now but starts irritating me a lot !!!! just GRRRRR!!!!!! so, if anyone has a clue
(1) I know that doing that, makes them "not strictly speaking portable" which I really dont bother about! and everything works perfectly on any PC

I am surprised! for month i made "symenu.exe" into "admin mode" (via it's exec properties change) I just reversed that and it works Don't undertand why, as "sysmenu.exe" was actually marked as "run at W startup" in the register (as shown in the screen copy)
Drawback is that I need to elevate "manually" as programs which need admin rights do not inherit that privilege from sysmenu itself is there a way to make a kind of "autoexec start" for "elevate symenu" fonction? or "elevate at startup" option ?
Not vital, just helpfull thanks for help edited by lupusbalo on 23/04/2017 |

OK I'm back Thanks for 5.11, which Installs & runs OK .......... up to now (Ah AH AH AH !!!!!!!)
History: - I want Symenu to start with Windows (easy!! using option in Symenu) - but ... in admin mode (no Symenu parameter to do that), ... so - I set Symenu to run as admin, directly in it's exe properties (see picture at the end)
then the issue was Symenu stops starting with windows (I just reproduce it with 5.11 a few minutes ago)
as the 5.11 now allows to set admin rights individually for apps, and the main reason I want Symenu to run itself in admin mode is to forward that rights to Apps I have a solution now for most situation, and use "elevate" for less frequent needs
So it's up to you to close that thread or not If you need any other details, don't hesitate to ask for

Gianluca, I really understand how reluctant you could be to implement the function
- as a user I always want more features and - as sl23 - being a Liberkey user for a long time, i found this one very usefull - as an IT Services old manager (Sales, Devs and Ops) I think the "keep it simple" option is always the best the more features, the more code, so more bug risk, and associated maintenance
BUT I may have an idea for you: what about some kind of plugin/exits solution? (note) using the comment field is a great idea, as it can be customized and play no role in core features .... or you can have "user tag" devs can then create their own rules to manage specific content
(note) I have no idea on how to develop that kind of plugin, but I volunteer to try to write something, if the interface is clear enough!! |

You should 1) chek "Autoexec on Start" in the properties of each program you want to run when Symenu starts 2) chek Autoexec in the Events tab of Symenu Options (to Activate the function) edited by lupusbalo on 02/06/2017 |

@sl23 I work on several PC where Symenu is "installed" "Master" is my personal PC I just sync all of them the following way: - I use FreefileSync to synchronize "Master" with a 3.0 USB mem stick - then re-sync it on other PCs as necessary (could be autoexecuted) and it's fairly quick and easy (only new or more recent files copied) up to now, found no drawbacks
but I'm sure don't understand your problem!! edited by lupusbalo on 16/06/2017 |
