I'm using symenu extensively on several computers (cloning it on USB from my main PC)

So on this PC I want it to start with Windows, I also made several other symenu suite programs autostart with W10 (1)
Everything works fine for any other program EXCEPT FOR SYMENU!!
- I tried "autostart option"
- so added a shortcut to windows "start" folder
- so added a task in the scheduler
NONE of the above works!!! (below is an autorun screen copy)

This issue lasts for months now but starts irritating me a lot !!!!
just GRRRRR!!!!!!
so, if anyone has a clue bowrofl

(1) I know that doing that, makes them "not strictly speaking portable" which I really dont bother about! and everything works perfectly on any PC

Try this: start SyMenu in admin mode, set the option to autorun SyMenu when Windows starts, then restart SyMenu in normal mode and check if the option is still set.
Since SyMenu writes that option in the registry you should have elevated privileges to success in that.

I am surprised!
for month i made "symenu.exe" into "admin mode" (via it's exec properties change)
I just reversed that and it works
Don't undertand why, as "sysmenu.exe" was actually marked as "run at W startup" in the register (as shown in the screen copy)

Drawback is that I need to elevate "manually" as programs which need admin rights do not inherit that privilege from sysmenu itself
is there a way to make a kind of "autoexec start" for "elevate symenu" fonction? or "elevate at startup" option ?

Not vital, just helpfull
thanks for help

I haven't understood clearly what is your scenario but it seems you've found a bug here.
Can you create a schema with all the combination you've checked and send to me in private please?
Thanks.

OK I'm back
Thanks for 5.11, which Installs & runs OK .......... up to now (Ah AH AH AH Ignoredlol hit!!!!!!!)

History:
- I want Symenu to start with Windows (easy!! using option in Symenu)
- but ... in admin mode (no Symenu parameter to do that), ... so
- I set Symenu to run as admin, directly in it's exe properties (see picture at the end)

then the issue was Symenu stops starting with windows
(I just reproduce it with 5.11 a few minutes ago)

  • BUT:
as the 5.11 now allows to set admin rights individually for apps,
and the main reason I want Symenu to run itself in admin mode is to forward that rights to Apps
I have a solution now for most situation, and use "elevate" for less frequent needs

So it's up to you to close that thread or not
If you need any other details, don't hesitate to ask for

Ok thanks for the feedback.
Anyway I think I'll put your report in the TODO list the same because it could be useful to launch SyMenu at login in admin mode too.

You should
1) chek "Autoexec on Start" in the properties of each program you want to run when Symenu starts
2) chek Autoexec in the Events tab of Symenu Options (to Activate the function)
