This portable version of the app is made by Portapps, Inc., an open source project, self-funded & developed by CrazyMax, an experienced developer of open source software.
Compared to the original release it includes some modifications, which where made to ensure portability. Please follow the link to the publisher web site for details.

Brave portable is not able to update itself, but only displays an error message. Portapps.io updates its apps regularly, but at longer intervals of about 3 months. You can keep Brave portable up to date yourself.
- Open this website: https://brave-browser-downloads.s3.brave.com/
- Search in the table for the current "release" version for "windows-x64" and "public".
- Click on "tag" behind it.
- Scroll down and download the file "brave-[version number]-win32-x64.zip" under "Assets"
- Extract the contents of the file to the "app" subdirectory of Brave portable within the Symenu directory structure, overwriting existing files: .\SyMenu\ProgramFiles\SPSSuite\SyMenuSuite\Brave_portable_(x64)_sps\app
- You can delete the directory with the name of the old version number in there.
