New Version 8 Scaling "Yikes"

Hello!
I have the same resolution on my monitor (3840x2160) but am still experiencing problems even though "Check this for issues on HD monitors" is checked. It is the sub-menus to "Tools" that are very difficult to read. I am attaching pictures of what it looks like. (I had to leave out two images to stay under 512 KB.) I have included part of the background so that the difference from normal text is clearly visible. The latest version of SyMenu is installed.
I use SyMenu as a replacement for the Start menu and for that it works well. But this is the only program I've come across that behaves this way. I look forward to a solution coming eventually. |

Sorry my bad. I should have been more precise: check the flag and restart SyMenu. Problem solved.
Thanks, that was what was needed! Now it looks good. |

Hello!
After a hard drive crash, I've added information from backups. But now when I want to update SyMenu with added programs, I do not succeed. As seen in the attached gif file, my drag and drop is not approved.
To bring up Configuration I had to enter Administrator privileges (Elevate SyMenu). If not specified, this error message appears: This feature is unavailable because the SyMenu folder 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SyMenu\ is read only.'. I also tried giving Administrator privileges to my file manager (Directory Opus) but it made no difference. I have the latest version of Symenu installed. |

I first tried to process the entire C: drive according to the video but a bit in I get a warning that is not in the video: If you have just become the owner of this object, you must close and reopen the properties of the object before you can view or change characteristics. (Translated from Swedish.)
I then tried limiting myself to Programs (X86) but at the time 1:05 in the video you should press the Add button. However, it is greyed out for me. |

I had my hard drive (actually SSD) replaced and Windows 10 installed on it. After that I reinstalled a lot of programs. I had previously saved any program settings.
I have not experienced that SyMenu has automatically picked up information from the Windows Start menu. On the other hand, I don't want it as in the Start menu in one long list, but I want to be able to group the programs.
I haven't noticed any problems with Windows yet and hopefully nothing happened when I canceled at the warning message. However, I have not restarted Windows. But do you have a suggestion for a suitable program to test Windows with? |

Thanks for your reply! I ask to study it on Sunday and come back then as I am babysitting my grandchildren this weekend. :-) |

Hardly any programs of my installed programs have received links in the personal Start menu, but they have ended up in the global one. But I tried moving a bit from the global to the personal Start menu and dragging the Programs folder over SyMenu. But as the gif animation shows, it didn't work.
When I have reinstalled my programs, I have done so using the installation files that I had saved.
My computer had been shut down last night so when I was now able to start Windows again I at least got proof that everything works as before. (Why it shuts down I don't understand. It's happened a few times before after the disk replacement. Windows Update hasn't run since May 7th.) |

I have reinstalled SyMenu. Now you can drag and drop a folder on SyMenu and SyMenu is updated (see the gif animation). But unfortunately I can't edit the contents of the folder (see picture). What am I doing wrong? |

Thanks for your reply!
I tried the batch import but unfortunately it doesn't keep any grouping, everything ends up in one long list. Instead, I have to do as your second suggestion, i.e. drag the files one by one. Unfortunately, it will be a time-consuming job as in my case it involves about 150 folders and files. Especially as for each folder I want to change its default icon to the one that applies to the current program. But now I can at least move on and it feels good! |

Only exe files can be opened. The file "SyMenu.png" shows the folder referenced. It contains both txt and pdf files as shown by the file "The referenced folder.png".Of course, the shortcuts to these files won't work either. Also, I want to remember that it should work with only shortcuts in a folder referenced by SyMenu. What could have happened? |

Junction points I had not come into contact with before but it was a good feature.
Unfortunately it didn't help. It's strange because it works when I click on the "Execute current item" button inside Configuration. Then the correct folder opens, which now has the path "C:\Users\Sven\SyMenu\1. Bild & ljud\Bildred. Ashampoo Photo Commander 16", but outside Configuration nothing happens. Even with the long path, clicking the "Execute current item" button opens the correct folder.
Incidentally, I tried referring to a file in that folder from the Start menu. I hadn't created a Junction point then, so it was the long path. It worked. I then examined the length of the long path and it is "only" 150 characters long.

I have discovered a strange thing.
I copied the folder to another location so that the path would be short: "C:\Users\Sven\.B&L Bildred. Ashampoo Photo Commander 16". After updating the SyMenu with the new location, I again clicked on the button with the three dots located to the right of the "Path" box. Then SyMenu will not find all the way to the folder, see picture. |

I think I have found what is causing the problem. If there is "&" in the path, SyMeny has problems with txt and pdf files, but not with exe files! |

There are also problems with parentheses, but it might work out with the solution you intend to implement. |

Two more things that I think are incorrect. 1. If you drag to SyMenu a shortcut that points to a program, the shortcut is placed in a Document container and it does not work. 2. If SyMenu refers to a folder that contains shortcuts, only those shortcuts that point to programs will work. |

Strange, it doesn't work for me. I now tried three folders with slightly modified names. All received the same content, including a text file. I have added the following folders to the library C:\Users\Sven: .BoL Bildred.(Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 8) .BoL⚫Bildred. Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 8 .BoL⚫Bildred.(Ashampoo Photo Optimizer 8)
For the middle folder opening the txt file works but not for the others. |

1. I now discovered that there are slightly different results depending on the program! For example, if I drag a shortcut that points to Notepad to SyMenu, it works. See the image for the properties of that file. But if I drag a shortcut to Notepad++ it doesn't work, it ends up in a document container. See the image for its properties. Same problem with a link to a web page.
2. I will come back to this. |

I have now done so according to your wish. Unfortunately it made no difference, see the screenshots. |
