Hi. Probably because you need to download SyMenu and not Sysmenu... do you misspelled it or is the file name Sysmenu.exe for real?
Anyway I've just resubmitted the last SyMenu package to Virustotal and it's perfectly clean. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/d9de1599f36cf3a73660090439e00f7a36f29774f47d9df6f2ac8aa56b9adbcc/analysis/1497197060/
Do you update your malware program definitions? If it is updated try to report the false positive to Malwarebytes posting the virustotal link as proof. edited by Gianluca on 14/06/2017 |

Due to having more than one installation of SyMenu, I find it sometimes necessary to copy/move from one to another. You already have something similar. It's the Batch import feature. You can even use it to import SPS Suite programs from one SyMenu to another. Well, in this case you have to follow a particular procedure but it's a feasible task. Example. I have two SyMenu installation, Sy1 and Sy2, and you want to copy three SPS program from Sy1 (source) to Sy2 (target). - copy the three programs from Sy1 to Sy2 keeping each relative paths - batch import in Sy2 - select the three new executables and import them - save and exit from configuration form - now go to the Sy2 SPS Manager and you'll find your new programs
Disadvantages: - you don't have metadata in your SyMenu logical items even if the description fields will be restored during the first update. - if you visit the Sy2 SPS Manager before importing, the new programs will be moved to trash.

this is one feature I do like about PA.com menu. It makes reorganisation or even creating new menus for others a breeze. It's easy for PA.com creates such a feature. Consider that they work only with PAF programs and the PAF programs have predictable folder structures and file names. So if the PA.com menu finds something like xyzPortable.exe that is a good item to import. Further they don't need to scan more than a first folder level because the xyzPortable.exe are all located on their own root.
As an SPS editor, you know better than me how complex and various the normal program structures are.
The only organic solution I see, is to create a plugin that works this way: - it reads the configuration from Sy1 - it presents the full program list from Sy1 to the user - the user selects the programs he wants to export - the plugin now copies the selected program folders and files to the Sy2 paths - the plugin inserts in the Sy2 configuration the xml for every exported Sy1 program - naturally Sy2 must be closed.
It's not a complex plugin but it's a big work, and I can't face such a job. This is the reason for which I'm speaking of a plugin and not about a new native implementation. Even better than a plugin should be a separate program like SyMenu Orphan Icons Cleaner or SyMenu Published App Track (from our mighty VVV_Easy_Symenu). If someone would like to try that, let me know. |

sl23 is trying to do something more subtle. His problem is not solved simply sincronizing two (or more) SyMenu installation but using a part of the master installation to create the same configuration on the target installation. His purpose is not having exactly equal SyMenu installations, but higly customized versions with some parts in common. |

Not automatically. You could go to the configuration form and reorganize everything as you like but the operation can be done one program by one. Anyway in my experience, the program organization is never perfect. It's literally years that I'm moving programs here and there searching for the ideal configuration and I've not yet found it. |

Extension Manager - Bug?
GianlucaAdministrator
|
Extension Manager works on a system wide level. So if a file is opened in your system, EM checks for it to verify if its extension is among the ones it manages. This is the EM behavior in the ideal world but indeed it is not so good and it is able to managed only some sort of file opening.
Regarding to your scenario, activating EM in two different SyMenu versions at the same time in the same PC is definitely not a good idea because the two will continuously steal the just opened file to each other. If you really want to have to EM active at the same moment, you can't overlap their extension scopes. So if your SyMenu A manages pdf, rar and jpg extensions, SyMenu B can't manage pdf, rar and jpg.
Well as I told you EM isn't able to always work as it should. A more reliable solution should be a program that physically manages the extensions changing them in the Windows registry and resetting them when the working session is ended. An example is eXpresso but it seems the developing is now stopped (https://sourceforge.net/projects/expressoportabl/). My question is: since you are working with a local SyMenu version, why don't you associate the system extensions with the SyMenu programs using the Windows normal way? |

Well your scenario is a very unusual one. Two SyMenu versions on the same PC, both running, both with EM activated hover the same extensions. I doubt this control could be a useful feature for a lot of people.
Anyway I perfectly agree with you about the need for a more reliable extension associator. The EM architecture has severe limits but it's the cleaner, and currently unique, way to accomplish this task. In fact, for security reasons, starting from Windows 8, the third party programs are no longer allowed to change the extensions associations without an explicit user action. This is the reason for which eXpresso and Portable File Associator are dead projects now.
IMHO there are only two workarounds for this limitation: - use an alternative file explorer ("Whatever" Commander, XYplorer...) that allows you to open certain files with certain programs - adopt a so called "drop box" program.
The latter solution is the most suitable for any portable solution but I suspect you are already using this one... isn't Portable Extension Warlock from the SyMenu suite your work? There is Dropper too (https://sites.google.com/site/freewarewiresoftware/software/dropper) and who knows how many others. |

New SyMenu Beta Version 5.12
GianlucaAdministrator

Hello folks.
I have a new beta here. Is there anyone interested in testing it?
These are the new features:
- Separate launcher - a SyContainer can be flagged to open a separate window from where its contents can be executed separately
- Thirdy party feature - in the configuration file SyMenuConfig.xml you can activate the feature to hide the unlinked items in the contextual menu. The key is located in the contextualMenu tag, attribute hideOrphanItems.
- Bug fix
Hope you will enjoy it.
2017.07.11 5.12.6401 version - The context menu building speed has been improved Guys this is THE new feature for this beta. I was waiting for it for months!!

The folder launcher has been requested, in different forms, from several users.
The idea behind it is: I have to work on a certain topic. For that topic I have some programs to open and a bunch of documentation available. I can organize a folder launcher with all this material, so when I have to work on that particular topic, I open the corresponding folder and have all I need in the same place without opening and re-opening SyMenu several times. Why not using a simple Windows folder with shortcuts for this task? Because with the raw Windows folders we don't have SyMenu as a launcher. SyMenu, with its action modifiers and the custom environment variables, is sometimes the only way to launch programs in the right way.
The option to hide unlinked programs should become available as a mainstream option only if you users ask for it. Until then, let's hack the configuration file |

@VVV_Easy_Symenu
Now the new option to hide certain class of items exists and works and this is the most important thing. When I clear my idea regarding a correct use for it, I'll surely include it in the options form and extend it to cover other tasks. I like your idea for a swicth to hide the items that need admin rights. Probably another switch can be implemented to hide the Windows files and folder hidden (system) elements. And, who knows, how many others. |

What do you intend as a "dock"? Are you speaking about a window which can dock on a desktop edge or an icon docked (pinned) in the task bar? I dont' understand well sorry. |

Correct me if I'm wrong. The taskbar docking is something similar to the Windows pin system (it's called Pin to taskbar) while che Rocket Dock docking is nothing but a window with a zoom and preview. Is it correct?
Both features can surely be implemented, maybe the preview is not possible at all but the others probably yes.
The problem is always the same. As you say my time is limited and I have to focus my energy on prior features. For example the last beta has two new features but the real implementation wasn't ready yet at the first release. Within some days I'll release the second beta version which will be the real beta. The real new feature for the 5.12 version will be a terrific improvement in context menu building speed. Today, people with hundreds or even thousand items suffer for a long refresh time. The context menu refresh occurs whenever you add/remove/update an SPS, when you change an item configuration, when you change theme or, naturally, when you force a refresh directly from the menu.
Personally I "only" have 870 items in my SyMenu and the time I spend watching a freezed floating button because the menu is refreshing, is a badly spent time. So with the next beta the menu loading will be always partial. SyMenu will load only the first level item (one sec wait) and will load the deepest levels only when needed.
I hope you will appreciate this time saving feature at least as much as I'm appreciating it edited by Gianluca on 04/07/2017 |

What? 6.00?
Yes the new version is a real quantum leap in the SyMenu history and deserves the promotion. The new item loading system is so good, even better than my expectation, that I decided to push the version to the 6 figure. Unfortunately the normal users won't even notice the new feature but, guys, if you have several hundreds of items or even thousands you'll got a completely new and super fast experience.
As usual I'm here to help, explain, and receive bug reports and suggestions.
Have fun |

Change Symenu Search Item Bar (Large items) colors

Hi Emanuele.
You are right. Those elements are labels and my original idea was to couple the label color with the title color. I've never noticed that the label object needed a special treatment because it doesn't takes the color so simply as the other objects.
Since I have to process the labels in a special way my solution is to allow the user to customize the color completely, in short no more hook to the title color. So starting from the next version you'll find this new element among the theme objects. |

The clean "install" delay can't be due to SyMenu nor to your HW. The guilty is probably the the disk unit that host SyMenu or .NET Framework itself.
Which kind of disk are you using? Is it an external slow USB 2.0?
Just in case the disk is not the problem can you do a test for me please? I need to know which frameworks are available in you machine. To check them you can download from the SyMenu suite the .NET Version detector application and let me know how is your PC situation.

SyMenu PAF program suite
GianlucaAdministrator

The PAF plugin has been completely replaced by the SyMenu Suite (SPS). Inside the SyMenu Suite you can find programs from any source and not only from the PortableApps web site. But inside the suite you don't find all the PAF programs, as you are used to find in the dedicated plugin, because PortableApps is strongly hostile toward SyMenu so my policy is to replace all the programs released from them with others from more friendly sources.
To get a sample of their hostility read https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/86399/why-does-the-libreoffice-portable-version-act-as-a-proprietary-software/ and the related source https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105572
Substantially PortableApps, which is formally free and open, acts as a closed system. They disabled the silent (unattended) install for every menu, except for their, to exclude this automation, which is a necessary masterpiece, to any other platform. Plus they prevent the manual unpacking of their PAF packages with silly systems, asserting this is for security reasons... For example try to install from SyMenu Suite Libre Office and read the alert you get on the first execution. It's comical. I hope this is enough to explain their politics so please don't ask for more PAF programs released from PortableApps.
If you want the source for the PAF plugin I can give it to you but it will be useless. The plugin simply relies on a set of information created and updated on the ugmfree web site. I haven't updated that information since years and I don't want to reactivate the monitoring system so you won't have useful information.
BTW if anyone has anything to add to this topic I'm here. Well the topic is the silly war among PortableApps and the other freeware portable platform, not the PAF plugin. |

Hello VVV_Easy_Symenu.
This kind of problem is a network issue. Probably the user network was too slow in those moment or his ISP denied the connection towards that particular URL. In any case it's a not reproducible bug because it's tied to the user network configuration.
To workaround the problem the user can try again in another moment or can manually download the package (it's possible directly from the special SyMenu icon) and then install the it from the local package (it's the other installation option for an SPS). |
