Feature Request - Drag shortcut to add program.
nicedreams
|
Can you make an option for when you drag and drop a link to a program in the menu config to add the program like if you were to drag and drop an EXE file? I'm looking for an easier way to add and remove programs from this wonderful application.
When I install a program, it creates a desktop icon, and would be nice to be able to drag that into the menu config where I want it and then just delete the shortcut. The way it works now is that it will link to that shortcut, but of course if I delete the shortcut I also lose the SyMenu entry. So I'm thinking if I could drag and drop the shortcut, have it add the entry to the actual linked item so I can delete the shortcut on the desktop.
Just looking for a faster and easier way to add programs on the fly.
!!! This is the best menu app by far and thanks so much for offering it and supporting freeware !!! |

Set Focus on Search Bar Not Working
nicedreams
|
I've tried out the option for "Set Focus on Search Bar", but does not seem to work too well because it doesn't have focus. Like if I press my hotkey to open SyMenu, I see the Search, but can't type in it unless I click within the search box. Be nice to have the search box grab the focus so I don't have to take my hands off the keyboard as much.
Maybe it already works that way, but not for me so far. I'm on Windows 7 Pro. |

I've been playing with it to get more detail and it seems to work about 25% of the time. When I press my hotkey, I'll just be toggling the files or whatever I have behind SyMenu when it opens, but sometimes it will start typing in the Search Box instead.
It seems to just be random, but most of the time it doesn't work. Great feature, but be nice to press my hotkey and not have to click on the search box to start searching. |

Feature Request - Using Arrows in Search
nicedreams
|
I just posted an issue about the Search Box not getting focus, but once that's fixed there's a feature I'd like to have.
When searching it pulls up a list of everything it can find, but you can't down or up arrow through the list if it needs to scroll. I can press the arrows, but when I'm trying to not use my mouse and keep my fingers on the keyboard to be more productive, I can't scroll with the arrow keys past what it shows and have to use my mouse.
Even though it's a little thing, it would be nice to have this feature. Still love the program without it. |

The current shortcut I'm using is "Alt+F1". I also have a mouse button on my Logitech that just uses the hotkey when pressed.
I've already tried the difference between using only the hotkey or the mouse and it's the same.
I will try another hotkey combo and let you know. |

Glad you were able to get the search to hold focus and also add the shortcut to link to the shortcut path and not the shortcut file. Love this program so much. I use it so much I don't even remember how to use the start menu anymore. LOL |

Possible To Get Right Click Context Menu Option?

Probably a little late on this post, but you can do like I do and configure one of your mouse buttons to work with a shortcut. I do this with my Logitech mouse. I have an extra button I don't use and I go to the Logitech config and program one of the mouse buttons to perform a keyboard shortcut which I have linked to SyMenu. Now any time I press that button on my mouse, SyMenu pops up. |

Bug with 1.16 and mouse gestures.

I upgraded to 1.16 and started having a lot of issues with programs and games. My left click and drag was messed up and not usable. If I'm in Windows and I left click drag down, the menu opens and the Windows dialogue messes up. If I'm in a game, the left mouse button is not usable. Took a while to figure it was SyMenu. Went back to 1.15 and no issues. |

Forgot to mention I have a Logitech mouse using the Logitech software to configure the extra buttons on the mouse. Haven't had an issue with anything else. |

What I've done before I downgraded was disable the Logitech software, but still had the issues. I didn't actually uninstall, but tried to crash anything that was for Logitech in the task manager. I didn't mess with any of the configuration settings for the mouse gestures in SyMenu. I didn't realize about those new features until after I downgraded and figured out the new upgrade was my issue.
I haven't tried messing with the new one, but I will when I get a chance to help you out with any bugs. |

I'm using the new 1.16 again and it's working fine with the gestures turned off. I think the left mouse button drag down is a bad default for a mouse gesture though, because it conflicts with any program or game that uses the left mouse button. I've been using a keyboard hotkey mapped to a side mouse button for SyMenu which has been working very well for me for a few years.
Maybe a suggestion to be able to add a mouse hotkey instead of only a keyboard hotkey? I know this would be a large conflict with other default stuff a mouse would do depending on who made it, so maybe not a great idea. Mapping with the logitech software has been fine.
Still love the program. Just my opinion on the moues gestures. |

If you want hotkeys for launching programs, you can add a hotkey from the Windows shortcut properties.
Right click the shortcut, go to where it says "Shortcut key:" and you can set a hotkey right there. Good key combo modifiers are SHIFT+CTRL+HOTKEY
Like you can set SHIFT+CTRL+F to open Firefox or CTRL+ALT+F, but I find Shift+Ctrl easier to get to with one hand and 3 fingers.
Hope I'm understanding correctly also. |
