What triggers marquee scroll?

Hi Gian - I finally registered on the forum.
I've attached a screenshot of a folder display - picture folders which I make as descriptive as possible - so they are wordy.
I use the SyMenu setting to trigger the marquee effect only on focus...which I would prefer to only trigger when necessary.
These 2 entries...
080724.1 Kim, Fiance & Beau Arrive
080831.1 Matt Randall Working Hard
a. both have plenty of display room
b. both have 34 characters
c. Yet the 080724 line scrolls and the 080831 line does not.
Wondering what the logic is?
Is it possible to base the scroll on actual need? I.E. only when characters are actually hidden?

You have a talent for explaining things in a way that I can understand! Thanks Gian

I'll always be glad to test anything you send me. I'll make time to test on my office network too.

Level of expertise? Well...even though I write some fairly complex VBA, I think you might be looking for much more tech background. Having said that, I know the structure of XML & can edit it (as you know) - but expert? hmmmm

On the other hand, I am very good at testing, identifying bugs and usability - for ANY kind of software.

At your service if/whenever I can contribute.

Open command window in different directory?

Hi Gianluca - long time!
Hopefully this question is so simple it will embarrass me!
Is it possible to open a command window and change to a different directory? Or, open the command window with a "start in" sort of option?
CMD.EXE defaults to C:\Windows\System32 (as expected) but I was trying all kinds of way to do a CD E:\Data with no success.
Is it possible?

Sorry the question wasn't clear.
The only thing I want to do is open a command window and change to a specific directory.
That's it! Then I can do whatever I have to do in the command window which is already changed to the necessary directory.
E.G. "CMD.EXE" followed by "CD E:\Data"
SyMenu already allows opening a command window. I want to do a CD to the directory I want.

SyMenu Update freezes at "copying"

Hello Gianluca...long time...hope you and yours are getting through this worldwide mess safely!
I believe I have a bug that is not previously reported.

I'm on the current 7419 version. Windows 1903 completely updated.

During update (Audacity in this case), SyMenu freezes at the "copying" process - same place every time - right at the end.

See attachments of SyMenu and Task Manager "suspended".
But I CAN update smaller programs like IrfanView successfully.
I did add My Computer to my Menu just in case the problem was similar to a previous problem reported in the forum - no luck.
Is this a known problem? Or can I supply further information or can you suggest further testing?

I did all the things you listed EXCEPT deleting everything from "temp". Plenty of SSD space, stopped AVG. I did notice multiple Audacity folders in temp. So next I will do all the things you listed - at the same time an see what happens. I'll post back results.

Problem FOUND. Tried above suggestions as noted. No joy. My goto debug tool is "Everything" sorted by Mod Date. Just after the SyMenu activity I noticed "Acronis Active Protection" woke up. Hmmm - what's that? Apparently there is malware protection built into Acronis (newest version for 2020). Who knew? Brought up Acronis, selected Active Protection tab, turned OFF Active Protection and SyMenu updating runs properly.

Full disclosure: there was an Acronis update forced through so I DID update the software to the latest build - April 7, 2020 but I DOUBT that had anything to do with it.

So the problem WAS anti-malware software. It just wasn't AVG which was left running. It was something I never knew about in Acronis!
