Hello,
Too many days without forum movement, some fun facts of SyMenu to hang out.

SUMo (Software Update Monitor): (http://www.kcsoftwares.com/?sumo)
SUMO users = 1233 (http://www.kcsoftwares.com/sumo/view.php?prot=2&ProductName=SUMo&Company=KC Softwares)
In this database:

SyMenu = 6 (http://www.kcsoftwares.com/sumo/view.php?prot=2&ProductName=SyMenu&Company=UGMFree)
5.0.5835.35787 = 1 (17%) (Perhaps am I?)
4.14.5796.29789 (current) = 5 (83%)

PortableApps is 12 years old (March 2004, http://portableapps.com/about), nearly 100 developers and SUMo is in his repository!
Liberkey is more than 9 years old ("since 2007", http://www.liberkey.com/en/changelog.html), and SUMo is in his repository!
Symenu Portable Suite is the youngest (version 0.94 [2008.11.03], http://www.ugmfree.it/SyMenuDownload.aspx) and SUMo is not in the repository!

For me it is very good result. Congratulations Gianluca! Toast

(PS: One idea, when I saw these applications repositories I thought that perhaps SyMenu can add to the repository SPS one feature of number of active users of the apps, always voluntary for privacy. It is a difficult decision but it may serve to encourage developers and select the best portable applications in each category.)

You are completely right.
SyMenu suite lacks of every kind of feedback except for this forum.

What are the users' opinions on certain SPS programs?
What if a satisfied user want to suggest an SPS he just tested?
What is the SPS app that receive the greatest number of download during the last month?

I know...

From the next version, BTW it'll be 5.00 and it is quite cooked!!!, I will start to use a new media to have a more continuous flow for the SyMenu and SPS news. I hope that this could contribute to create a more rational way to communicate the SPS news and I hope that this helps to boast the SyMenu universe more and more.

Well I didn't know SUMo, but I'll add immediately to the SPS suite. It's a fantastic program!!!

Thing I hated about sumo is that it is all too easy to clear a long list of apps! I set it up several times, checked for apps but clicked wrong button that basically resets sumo! I asked the dev to change behaviour around 4 years ago but as they didn't I stopped using it.

I look forward to v5!!!

Any chance that scripting will make an appearance? Probably too early, I know, but I'm eager to add the rest of my apps that require it! No pressure though, all your hard work is appreciated :-D

No, unluckly the v5 will have the same features you can already find on the last beta I released.

Basically the new features will be the new fully customizable menu structure, the custom variables injected via the command line, a customizable floating icon, the option to show the contextual menu on hovering the floating icon (no click needed), the deactivation of the readonly file flag based on certain machine names, a new element to directly access the form option without passing through the configuration form, a new look and feel for the option form, bigger scrolling buttons for contextual menu and tons of bug fix.

The scripting engine is too demanding to be added instantly.

No problem Gian, hopefully this year, maybe? I'll keep my fingers crossed 8-)

Great job, Gianluca! Applause
The virtues of SyMenu for me are in order:
  • Reliable
  • Easy to use
  • Flexible and Powerful
  • Open
  • With many programs
Remains on track! worship
