Hi,
I really really often use the search in SyMenu - and often all is ok. ...but...
I use a hotkey for opening the search and then write something in the edit. There all is fine for me. But often I use the mouse to select a searched item to start it - and then the search window dispears because the focus with the mouse cursor. My cursor is left and the SyMenu is right and I move the cursor across the opened menu - and the search closes. OK, that's my fault - but maybe it's possible to only open the search window and not the whole menu...
I suggest a separate search window. edited by PoWi on 1/2/2014

Well this problem is bigger than you describe and it comes from a mistake I did in designin SyMenu.
I choose to separate the main contextual menu from the search menu. In fact the search menu are a submenu and every action on the main menu force the submenu to close.
In retrospect I should have chosen a different approach including the search bar in the main menu so if you search something the search results overwrite every syitem and if you empty the search bar the syitems will reappear.
Every other solution is a patch but not a definitive solution.
I don't know if it is possible to fix this problem but I should try and maybe during this 2014 a 3.00 version of SyMenu will born!
Stay tuned

I'm also new to SyMenu which I am liking very much but this search losing focus is my only major gripe. Very annoying, you have to keep going back to click the search and enter the criteria again. Is there a workaround for this, is one planned. The Liberkey (seems to be out of date now) and portableapps search are far easier to use, i.e. they stay put!
It would be nice if the search bar just 'stayed open' at the side of the Contextual Menu, or just as good would be to open a separate search window say like that in Arsclip http://www.joejoesoft.com/vcms/97/
