There is however one thing that must be a bug. Every time I return to Forum, there is always a large number of "unread topics", no matter how many times I browse those topics. Minutes ago, I browsed all unread topics and when I closed my browser the counter said "0 unread topics". I restarted my browser and opened Forum and there it was again... "19 unread topics".

I think it's possible to do, whit a combination of SyMenu and FileMenu Tools Portable. I have not been using it much as portable, but I know for sure it can be done with the installed version. You'll have to configure your own context menu in FileMenu Tools, and then you use the "Register FileMenuTools.exe" on the machine you are working. When done, you run "Unregister FileMenuTools.exe".

Edit:
Watch out for the FileMenuTools installer. It's full of crap that wants to install to.

SPS Builder Template

Creating and saving a local template is easy enough. You could just open any SPS with your favourite text editor and clean out the data you don't need, before saving Template.sps.
The problem is that SPS Builder will not load it, and I think that is where Gian should do the changing. To simply allow loading of incomplete SPS's, rather then saving unfinished ones.

Windows Defender quarantined symenu.exe

It's happening again! Windows Defender silently quarantining SyMenu.exe. McAfee and Kaspersky, along with some others not so well known, is obviously following.

Here's for you, Gian!

I have reported to Microsoft, F-Secure, Kaspersky, Symantec, McAfee and BitDefender. So far, only Microsoft have fixed their signatures.

F-Secure was the first one to respond...

Thank you for your submission. The file is clean and now the database already fixed to remove the detection. We apologize for the false positive as it was detected by the generic detection which it was accidentally detected your file. If you see any false positive to your clean file, please submit to us immediately so that we can fix it within few hours.

BitDefender also removed the false detection. From yesterdays 22 false positives to 15 over night... We can fix this, Gian! ;-)

Win10 Defender reports Symenu.exe as a trojan

I have seen this happen before and I know it is very hard to get rid of a FP. Some years ago I was involved with another "FP take down", and the only way to fix it permanently, is to make the major AV company's fix their signatures. The smaller company's will follow as they are either buying or "borrowing" their signatures from the major ones (or at least watching them closely).
Sure, recompiling will work for a day or two, as you get new hashes for every recompile, but that is hardly the final solution.

Gian, do you have any idea about what component in SyMeny is causing this mess?

I just received an answer from Symantec. Forwarding it to you. Maybe you can respond from that answer.

Would this response be inappropriate to share on here? I would be interested in reading it even though Symantec isn't necessarily the top authority in this space.

No, I can share. I just wanted to avoid feeding the trolls, because the answer I got wasn't very encouraging,
Well, today (after sending a response in pretty harsh terms) I got another responding email about the same issue, where they apparently changed their mind, so I'll just share them both.
