I don't understand very well what the problem is here.
Can you post a little video where you reproduce the issue? A few seconds is enough.

If you don't know a program to record your desktop I can advise you to try ScreenToGif (in the SyMenu Suite).

Unhandled Exception of SPS package manager

This bug is still present and reappeared today. And I can report that it wasn't on finishing the update but afterwards when asking SPS package manager to update its list of still not yet successfully processed SPS packages.

Who did ask to the SPS Manager to update the list? Was it you? Because the SPS Manager updates by itself whenever it finishes the update/installation/delete process.
If you force the update you are forcing the update of the programs definitions not only the list update.

So does this bug appear after the automatic (local) refresh or your forced (online) refresh?
Does it always appear or occasionally?

If I never should use build in update feature of a program unless the SPS editor decides it is so reliable, how may I know this decision?

Which flag in SPS package manager tells me how the SPS editor has decided?

As a user you don't need to know. If you find and update in the SPS Manager, do the update, otherwise the program will update itself without your intervention.

Minor Bugs in SPS Package Manager Reporting ?

The package size information is available only for managed packages.
When a package is discontinued the SPS doesn't exist anymore but if you already installed the program, it leaves tracks in the SPS Manager.
Naturally, since the size information is related to the package to download and not to the real disk occupation of an installed program, that field remains empty.

The strange order of the size field is because it's an alphabetical order and not a real size order.

I planned to implement it in the future but it has a really low priority.

Regarding the Kb abbreviation you are perfectly right. You'll find it fixed in the next version.

I tried to reproduce this problem but it's difficult without knowing the exact procedure you followed.
Anyway when the things become strange, it's quite normal that a bug can appear. The important thing is that the bugs are not here when you work normally.

What I can understand from the exception you posted, not so much because I don't speak German, it's useless to investigate further in it.
It seems a wrong disposition operation on an object (the menu itself) that shouldn't be disposed because it needs to be active all along the application lifetime.
Usually the reasons for this kind of problems are not highlighted in the stack trace and it's very difficult to find out them in debug mode too.
The only hope is that the problem can be reproduce with a defined actions sequence so that I can understand the real reason. Until that moment, please try to ignore the error if it is not so annoying or blocking.

convert 8GB portableapps.com apps to symenu easy

Nope.

The mystic plugin should have worked this way: take the PortableApps program structure into the SyMenu program structure and link all the programs.

Nothing incredible, neither too difficult but nobody creates it until now. Why?

IMHO an import process like this, makes you loose the autoupdate feature that the PA launcher offers. On the other hand SyMenu can autoupdate the programs only if you "install" them with the native feature.

Well SyMenu even has an import feature but it imports the programs, not the logical structure. And the autoupdate problem remains.

So the choice is entirely on you and, please, let us know what options you will choose and how your experience will be. It can be useful for other users.

P.S.
You have 1300 programs in SyMenu and 400 in PA. Are you really sure you can't recreate your 8GB program library in the SyMenu way?

And usually a fresh new start is exactly what we need to become even better than what we are today!
I'm awaiting for the news.

Trouble with second monitor

The problem is not where the menu appears first but where the submenus open subsequently.

It's a problem with every multiple monitors system that I never solved because... I don't have a multiple monitor system to test the problem smile

An effective workaround is to use a keyboard shortcut to open the menu instead of the mouse. This way you can choose where the menu must pop up in your monitor, and, obviously, you don't have to choose the right side of it.

The shortcut key is not intended to force the menu to open in the main monitor, but in the active monitor.

The workaround only helps to avoid the menu breaking across two screens.

If you use the related shortcut, the menu must be always open on the left side... in the active monitor.
If you open it with the mouse click it opens where the mouse cursor is.
If it doens't work this way, it's a bug.

Accordingly to your screenshot you haven't changed the default shortcuts.
So you open the menu with CTRL + F1 or the search with SHIFT + CTRL + F1
https://www.ugmfree.it/SyMenuManual.aspx#Advanced_menu_Options_HotKeys

The scrolling option is not related to the menu opening.

My intention is to solve the dual monitor problem instead. This way the choose for the right opening direction is on the program.
The problem with the CTRL + F1 is probably due to a conflict with another program that uses the same shortcut.

Yes, all of us have received that message starting from yesterday.

I'm very sorry about this.

I already kicked out the asshole and implemented a captcha code in the private message board because the "nice Natasha" probably used a bot to spam all the users.

So starting from today if a fool wants to spam the community with private messages, he has to solve a captcha for every single post.

At least he'll have to sweat a lot smile

Sorry again to everyone.

There's a big potential in the SPS, it's a system that virtually can index every existing portable program in the Internet.
But for now let's enjoy with our 1318 programs Cool Smoke

There is a new version on the way (it's currently in translation) but unfortunately you won't find any theme customization yet.

Maybe in the next one! I'll do my best for it.

Extending Desktop Shortcuts

Well I can reply from the SyMenu POW.

When you execute a target like this \SyMenu\SyMenu.exe -run1d09991b-c35b-4a1a-bb03-4aa3fe583e47 you are instructing SyMenu to launch a program with a certain GUID using the SyMenu rules.

What's this GUID?
It's a unique and random code that SyMenu creates when a program is added. This way SyMenu can recognize a certain instance of a program. If, for the same physical program, you have three logical entries in SyMenu, you'll have three different GUIDs.

What are the SyMenu rules?
For example you have a rule when, for a certain logical entry, you redefine the environment variable.
Or you can have a rule that instances a program with a certain command line parameter.
Or you can have a rule that redefines the working dir.
Or a rule that take any combination of the above mentioned rules.

If you use that target, you are launching a program from a command line in the same way you do through the SyMenu context menu, with the same rules, using the same logical entry.

OK now I hope the feature is clearer.

Why the hell is Thunderbird refusing to create a desktop shortcut?

I literally don't know. Are you using the built in SyMenu feature to create it? Because if I try it, it successfully creates the shortcut.
Are you sure that the target (logical) still exists?
