I've added the PA.c Menu to SyMenu as it's easier to use and contains all the apps distributed by PA.com. Rather than using the outdated SyMenu .paf Plugin. Here's how I did it:
1. First you need to download the PortableAppsMenu: http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/PortableApps.com%20Platform/PortableApps.com_Platform_Setup_12.1.paf.exe/download
2. Next, Install it wherever is convenient for you. I already had it installed in E:/MyApps/Start.exe and then I moved it from here to E:/SyMenu/ProgramFiles/SPSSuite/PA.c/Start.exe
3. Once you've installed the menu here, or to your chosen location, you need to open the PAMenu and then open the Options. Click the Advanced tab on the Options window and check the box(es) to auto check for updates. All other settings are optional and really relevant if using the PAMenu seperately from SYMenu. I simply use it as an auto updater and have added the PA.c apps to SyMenu so all apps are available in one place.
4. Now add your apps to the PAMenu. edited by sl23 on 20/09/2015

Hi,
I was trying to install the PA.c Menu and I am unable to do so.
I followed the steps till point 2, but then there is nothing in the PAMenu section.
I am particulary lost here: you need to open the PAMenu and then open the Options
I cannot see anything in the PAMenu.
P.S. My SyMenu version is 5.00.5866 I downloaded the PortableAppsMenu version 12.2
Please guide me.
Thanks.

Helpful, but ideally the portable apps programs would be integrated fully into the SyMenu SPSSuite using the SPS Builder application. Depends on how many PA apps one has, of course. Most (but not all) of these are already available in SPS format. It's definitely frustrating juggling multiple portable apps interfaces; the only reason I've done so is due to availability on some platforms and not others (and I'm not technical enough to understand the differences). AutoHotKey is available on LiberKey, for instance, but not on PortableApps or SyMenu (which has the AHK compiler, but not the program itself). I may need to take an afternoon to delve into the SPS Builder to learn how to properly integrate my few stray apps into SPSSuite so I can limit myself to one menu system. edited by Daniel on 23/11/2016

In this case I strongly hope that your efforts will be shared among all the SyMenu user. You only have to upload the SPS after creating it.

Will do!
The challenge will be finding the time. I can already feel an addictive pull toward playing with SyMenu though.... My boss may not appreciate this.

Not all PA.com apps can be added. Due to the suffix added to the symenu install folders, _sps, which screws up the directory structure for PA.com Apps. Two examples are the second profiles for Firefox and Thunderbird.

Hi Scott.
I'm very interested in your report.
The _sps suffix is added to the root folder only. The portableapps programs have a single root folder that can be named in whatever way and every other resource the program needs are located inside this root. The Profile folder is created, along with its parent Data folder, during the program first run and contains all the profile related resources. Naturally the Data folder is located inside the root too.
Usually the program doesn't need to navigate under this root folder. Indeed the program never goes under its own folder that is inside the App folder. When it needs to navigate outside its own folder it uses the environment variables pointers which are created to target the folders inside the root again.
So it is really strange that in certain circumstances this rule breaks because of the root folder naming.
Anyway in the past you found some subtle bugs in the procedure so I completely trust your report. If you like please contact me in private to explain better the problem so I can solve it with the next version. BTW it'll probably be released in the next two weeks.

After what PA.com is doing against SyMenu? No thanks. In the past I was for integration, now no more. Read here and then if you like, please comment https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/86399/why-does-the-libreoffice-portable-version-act-as-a-proprietary-software/

Oh! I was not aware about this! Thanks. I don't see any reason to integrate now!

I tend to use the symenu version of an app over PA.com except when the app is not fully stealth. Examples of this are audacity, inkscape, autoruns. For these and few others I prefer stealth.
Though I have managed to figure out some basics of environment variables to keep my system folders cleaner.
It's a shame symenu can't do the same for the registry, but then that's what X-launcher and yap are for. Though to be honest I don't go that far. If an app relies too heavily on registry I abandon it in favour of something portable, unless not possible. One such example is IObit Driver Booster. Few other apps are as good, easy and portable as this. But I keep a look out...

I had many doubts in creating the sps of "IObit Driver Booster" ... a System Task is not exactly a portable stealth option but I have not yet found an "driver" application that I like (FOSS or FLOSS, Free/Libre Open Source Software). BTW, ¿do you know any application that monitors registry changes after running a program? In the other hand, totally agree with the opinion of Gian of PA.com (and more after read the libreoffice question). In fact, I have already written other times in the forum that the most honest for me is to download the app from the author's website or official repositories (sourceforge, github, etc).

Process Monitor from Sysinternals does this https://www.ugmfree.it/SyMenuSuiteSysinternals.aspx?pr=Process+Monitor Only remember to filter the watch by the process name or you'll be overwhelmed by the information.

Sorry to revive this again. I need two apps found only in Liberkey (AMC & Filmotech). Any suggestions on how to get them into SyMenu?

Thanks.

I have created the two corresponding SPS App for Ant Movie Catalog and for Filmotech. I suppose that in a few days they will be visible in SyMenu. But if you are searching a movie colletion catalog, and you aren't completely new in computers (you know what is an script, an database, an information scraper, etc) I recomend you Personal Video Database (now in SyMenu) because is very powerfull and programable. This is the program that I use.

All the new SPS are now published.
@KoolPal: I would have preferred you to open a new thread because this one was speaking about PortableApps and not about new apps in general. Anyway thank you for suggestion.

Don't worry it's not a real problem. The right categorization is intended to ease the finding of the messages but, since VVV_Easy_Symenu already found and solved it, we don't need to give it more emphasis.
